A massive amount of guilt is settling into my body as I write these words. It's true. I haven't watered my aloe in a very, very long time. And I don't think it's been getting much sun. I can see it now: crispy, crunchy, parched and depressed. This is why I'm not allowed to have nice things. Specifically plants. My apartment will never be one of those plant-filled havens we see so often on Instagram. I'll never be able to take care of a fiddle leaf fig or take selfies with shelves of carefully cared for succulents.

My black thumb hasn't stopped me from enjoying the plant life vicariously. My partner's garden is manicured. He grows fruit and vegetables out in Queens, and boasts an impressive indoor plant collection. Watering his babies is a long task that required waking up early, but when we're grilling those veggies or sitting surrounded by air-purifying botanicals, it all seems worth it. Another way I enjoy the houseplant and gardening lifestyle is through memes. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few years, you've probably noticed the uptick of memes dedicated to our mostly-green friends. There are entire meme accounts dedicated to this theme. And honestly, despite our ineptitude, we're all about it. Hopefully these plant memes will also be enjoyable for you, even if you're not spending half your salary on trendy greenery.
